The Journey Behind Go Mad Music
From the Stage to the Mind
My journey began with a drumstick in hand at age 15. Over the next two decades, drumming took me across stage and studio settings, completing a Bachelor of Music in Performance and developing a deep appreciation for the craft. But as I spent thousands of hours teaching students across South Africa, the Middle East, the UK and Australia, a clear pattern emerged:
"The students who struggled most in traditional music environments weren't lacking talent—they were lacking an environment tailored to how their minds processed rhythm and focus."
Bridging Psychology & Rhythm
Driven to understand how learning, focus, and neurological processing intersect, I completed a Master’s Degree in Applied Psychology (MSc). Combining psychological principles with music tuition, transformed my approach to teaching.
By integrating multi-sensory learning cues, structured beat patterns, visual colour-coded notation, and adaptive lesson pacing, I developed a framework designed to meet neurodivergent learners (ADHD, AuDHD, Autism) exactly where they are.
